To cross to Tierra del Fuego Island from mainland Argentina it is necessary to cross the border into Chile through the Austral Integration Pass and take the Ferry that sails through the Strait of Magellan from Punta Delgada to Bahía Azul, in Tierra Del Fuego. The crossing is managed by the company Transbordadora Austral Broom and lasts approximately 20 minutes. Once on the island, you have to drive south towards the Argentine border in San Sebastian. It is advisable to drive with extreme caution and respecting all the indications of the road since the fines are high and the accidents quite frequent. As it is a mainly rural area, most of the route is gravel, used by livestock establishments and energy companies in the region, because gas extraction is one of the primary economies of the area. To get to San Sebastian, you have to choose between two routes: the Camino Internacional Fueguino (International Fueguino road) (Route 257) and the Y-79 road. It is advisable to take the Fueguino International Road that goes to Onaisin and then from there drive east towards Paso San Sebastián. The Y-79 road that passes through Cullen is less advisable because in spite of having less traffic in it, more trucks travel and it is more deteriorated. Finally, once you have crossed the border into Argentina, you just have to drive south on the RN3 to the end of the world, literally.
